A group of 105 Afghan nationals has been released from detention centres in Pakistan and has arrived back in Afghanistan, according to reports from TOLO news on Monday.

The individuals had been held in different prisons across Pakistan for about a month.

Following their release, they re-entered Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province, a key border point in the country’s south, the report said.

Authorities and aid workers provided initial support upon their arrival before arranging transportation for them to return to their respective provinces.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously stated that more than 10,000 Afghan citizens were detained abroad, with the majority reportedly held in Iran and Pakistan.
