FIAN set to host Nigeria Football Summit, AGM
The Football Intermediary Association of Nigeria (FIAN) on Thursday announced its plan to host a Nigeria Football Summit and inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The Acting President of the association, Michael Sodeke made the dislosure in Lagos, said that there seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel for professional and aspiring football players with Intermediaries Licensed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
This, he said, was in their quest to join forces in a bid to sanitise the business of players transfer within and from Nigeria.
“FIAN was formed in the fourth quarter of 2017 and subsequently duly registered by the CAC in the second half of 2018.
“The association has already grown in leaps and bounds under the leadership of an acting executive led by me but we have yet to elect members into positions of authority to steer the affair of the ambitious pragmatic organisation.
“The event which is tagged: 'Best International Practices In Approaching Football Business.’’ is billed to hold on April 5 and and April 6, 2019 at the Four Point by Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
“The two days will see top NFF officials, Nigeria Football Administrators, European Football Agents Association Member, Sport Journalists, Nigeria Club Owners and Host Members in attendance,” he said in a statement.
“They will present lectures with the aim to share ideas on how international best practices can be applied to the business of players transfer and contract negotiations in Nigeria.”
Sodeke said that the registered FIAN members would go into a closed session for AGM where critical issues tailored towards the growth of the association would be addressed.
He said a duly elected executive would be constituted with the Acting President, Sodeke becoming the first elected president of FIAN.
