The Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, has said that the Gov. Seyi Makinde administration was deliberately promoting tourism to diversify the state’s economy
Olatubosun said that in this regards, the state would unveil six investment ready sites at the 2nd International Tourism Summit billed to hold between July 22 and July 24 in Ibadan.
The commissioner, who is also Chairman of the Summit’s Planning Committee, made this known in a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan.
He said that the six investment-ready sites to be unveil were located in Ibadan and other parts of the state.
Olatubosun said that the summit was not just a celebration of culture, but a strategic gathering of investors.
He explained that the summit was designed to unlock public-private partnerships, secure long-term investments, and reposition the state as Nigeria’s model for tourism-led economic transformation.
The commissioner said that participants at the summit would be from foreign embassies, global tourism experts, financial institutions, development partners, and the private sector
He added that the event would feature an exclusive investment roundtable where viable, government-backed tourism projects will be pitched directly to investors.
Olatubosun equally said that there would be site visits to heritage-rich destinations, including royal palaces and eco-tourism hubs, providing firsthand exposure “to investment-ready opportunities.
“In addition, there will be cultural exhibitions and curated networking opportunities to foster meaningful collaborations across sectors,” he said.
