The event is also set to feature a Travellers Award ceremony, with different categories like ‘Tourism Governor of the Year; Aviation Man of the Year; Airline of the Year; Most Active Tourism States; the Best Beach Resort in Nigeria; Top Tourism Promoters of the Year.

Mr Ikechi Uko, organiser of the annual Abuja Jabamah tourism expo, has announced that the 8th edition of the expo would hold on March 11th 2022.

Uko, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, in Lagos, added that the leading tourism personalities in Nigeria will be inducted into the prestigious Tourism 100 Club, Class of 2022, at the expo.

" Once again, Abuja is set to play host to the leading domestic tourism and travel show the Abuja Jabamah.

" The 8th edition is slated for the 11th of March 2022, when the leading tourism personalities in Nigeria will be inducted into the prestigious Tourism 100 Club, Class of 2022," he said.

According to Uko, the members would be top personalities in Nigeria who had made a mark through their contributions to the development of tourism in Nigeria.

He said these individuals cut across sectors, including government, hospitality, tour operations, the media, and that the induction would be the 4th batch as similar inductions had held in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

He noted that the event was put in place for stakeholders in the travel and tourism sector to facilitate collaboration with one another, as well as encourage travels within the country.

" Some notable names that have previously been inducted into the Tourism 100 Club include Chief Olusegun Runsewe, Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), former Commissioners for Tourism in Lagos and Plateau states, Steve Ayorinde and Mrs. Tamwakat Weli respectively," he said.

Abuja Jabamah is a travel event put together by the organisers of AKWAABA African Travel Market in its efforts to drive domestic tourism.

It seeks to play host to a huge travelling population, hotels, tour operators and travel agents, with participation expected from state tourism boards, operators and other tourism professionals.
