Mr. Adekunle Adams, Deputy Registrar, Centre for Information, Communication, and Public Relations, said this in an interview in Lagos on Saturday.

Adams said that the institution was proud to identify with Shogbayi for winning the 2nd runner-up position in the 6th edition of the Mrs. Debola Osibogun National Essay Competition.

Supreme News reports that the essay competition organised by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) attracted over 200 entries from tertiary institutions across the country.

The theme of the essays submitted for the competition was “Emerging Innovation in Agtech and Financial Institutions: A Synergy for Sustainable Growth and Development.”

According to him, Shogbayi, a HND 2 Banking and Finance student at YABATECH, has not only reflected his intellectual capability but also the quality of education and mentorship provided by the institution.

“Shogbayi’s achievement is a statement about what the college is doing to impact knowledge; it is evidence of our commitment to nurturing talent, training, and researching under the supervision of well-updated lecturers.

“We are delighted that one of our own has excelled in this national essay competition, and I give kudos to the Rector for making this possible by creating an enabling environment for both students and lecturers.

“It is noteworthy to say that the biometric ranking has YABATECH as number one back-to-back in the last few years, also taking the forefront in the area of invention and innovation.

“The College will continue to do its best in teaching, learning, and research to produce well-rounded individuals ready to excel in various fields and contribute to nation-wide development.” Adams said.

He said that Shogbayi’s remarkable accomplishment had won him a scholarship for the CIBN Banking Professional Examinations, a significant step towards a promising banking career.

Adam said that Shogbayi also got a HP laptop, a cash prize of N50,000, a plaque and certificate, and would also enjoy sponsorship to the Annual Banking and Finance Conference in Abuja.

He added that the award-winning essay would be published on the CIBN website, other publications, and social media platforms, ensuring wide dissemination of Shogbayi’s work.

The deputy registrar noted that Dolapo would also have the opportunity to visit industry leaders and managing directors of banks, affording him invaluable networking and mentoring experiences.

On the part of the college, Adams said that the award winner’s essay would be published in its quarterly journal to further enhance recognition of his scholarly contribution.
