Oguntoyinbo expressed the regret that prices of books and other learning materials had recorded tremendous increase, adding that most of them had almost doubled their former prices.

Academic activities, on Monday, commenced as primary and secondary schools in Oyo State commenced the 2022/2023 academic session.

Supreme reports that students in most of the schools visited in Ibadan were seen being introduced to their new classes and teachers.

The Vice-Principal of Oluyole Community Grammar School, Ibadan, Mrs Ademola Kazeem, urged the students in her school to always see teachers as their parents by obeying them at all times.

She also enjoined them to make punctuality their watchword and see the new teachers posted to the school and relate well with them as part of the school family.

Supeme reports that class activities had commenced in Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School, Liberty Road, Ibadan and others visited within Ibadan metropolis.

Mrs Felicia Oguntoyinbo, a parent, however, decried what she called high cost of books and other learning materials.

Oguntoyinbo expressed the regret that prices of books and other learning materials had recorded tremendous increase, adding that most of them had almost doubled their former prices.

"We want government to come to our aids concerning high cost of books and other learning materials in the market. The prices are killing us.

"The money we used to buy two books before can hardly buy one now. Parents now spend more to settle academic demands of their children. So government should help us address this problem, "she said.
