Edo commends private sector commitment to sports development
Edo State Government has reiterated commitment to partner with the private sector in the state, in its quest to take sporting activities to a greater height.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Philip Shaib, gave the commitment on Monday in Benin when he received two business sports developers on a courtesy visit to the government.
Shaibu, who assured the visitors that the Gov. Godwin Obaseki-led administration would continue to create enabling environment for businesses to strive, noted that the private sector was gradually taking over sports sponsorship in the state.
He lauded individuals who had in one way or the other contributed to the development of sports in the state and in using the opportunity to showcase their own businesses.
The deputy governor also thanked them for helping the state in arresting youth restiveness, through sports competitions.
The two visitors: Messrs Sunny Osayande and Wesley Asoro, thanked the state government for in ensuring that the state football team, Bendel Insurance FC of Benin gain promotion to the Nigeria elite league.
They promised to continue sponsorship of sports in the state.
