Police, PSC conduct hitch-free screening for intending constables

The Nigeria Police and the Police Service Commission (PSC) are currently conducting hitch-free physical and credential screening for intending general duty and specialist constables in Enugu State

A correspondent of the newsmen, who visited the venue of the screening at Police Officers’ Mess, Agbani Road, on Friday, observed that the exercise was ongoing smoothly.

It was observed that the officials of the exercise, which started on Jan. 8, screened out applicants with tattoo marks, body amputations, impediments in speech, deformed hands, and those with obesity, among others.

Speaking on the exercise, the state police public relations officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that the screening had been ongoing successfully without any challenge.

Ndukwe said that the intending applicants for the constable job had been cooperative and had abided by the day of their scheduled screening and requirements specified as well.

According to him, you can rightly observe the orderliness, decorum and comportment of the intending applicants coming for the screening.

“We are on track and the exercise is smooth and hitch-free without any challenge since we started on Monday.

“I believe with the speed and flow of the screening, we will meet up with the Jan. 29 deadline for the exercise,” he said.

The police spokesman said that in the venue of the screening, “the Nigeria Police, PSC, the Ministry of Police Affairs, and the Federal Character Commission are well represented.

“Each of these establishments is here to ensure their mandates are protected in the exercise, and Enugu State is not shortchanged,” he added.

Supreme News recalls that the state commissioner of police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, had earlier warned intending constables against the activities of scammers, adding that applicants should not give a kobo to anyone in the process of screening.
