The prosecutor, Insp Simon Wada, told the court that the defendants had on Jan. 16 beaten up the complainant, Dara Amusa at the Police Clinic, Akure during an argument.

The Police on Wednesday arraigned three men at an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting Dara Amusa, a security guard attached to Police Clinic, Akure.

The defendants – Isiaka Ayotunde, 32; Jamiu Abilogun, 34 and Oyelade Oyedeji, 28, of no fixed address, are facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Insp Simon Wada, told the court that the defendants had on Jan. 16 beaten up the complainant, Dara Amusa at the Police Clinic, Akure during an argument.

He said that the action of the defendants caused breach of peace at the health facility.

Wada stated that the offences were contrary to and punishable under Sections 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006.

The prosecutor asked the court to adjourn matter to allow him present his witnesses on the trial date.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Sekoni ordered that the address of the surety should be verified by the court.

The case was adjourned until Feb. 22 for hearing.
