Notorious phone snatcher arrested, jailed in Enugu
The police command in Enugu State has arrested a notorious phone and handbag snatcher within the Holy Ghost axis of Enugu metropolis.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu on Friday.
Ndukwe said that operatives serving in the Central Police Station, Enugu, on March 8, at 7.00 p.m., arrested the suspect identified as Promise Happy at Christ Chemist Roundabout in Holy Ghost axis of Enugu.
According to the spokesman, Happy was arrested after snatching an Android phone from a passenger in a moving mini-bus.
He said that Happy, who resided at the New Garriki Market, Awkunanaw, Enugu, had been on the command’s criminal watch-list for stealing.
“He confessed to the crime, stating that he and his gang members at large have been perpetrating the criminal act of phone-snatching since 2022.
The spokesman said that the Android phone was recovered from Happy, adding that upon conclusion of investigation, Happy was, on March 14, arraigned before an Enugu North Chief Magistrates’ Court which sentenced him to three years in prison.
