Managing Director of Edo State Public Procurement Agency (EDPPA), Mr Henry Idogun, on Tuesday, said that contractors were critical stakeholders in the e-procurement process.

Idogun stated this while addressing journalists at the closing of a two-day training, organised by the agency to train contractors on the importance of e-procurement procedures in Benin.

“We have now gone live on our e-procurement portal; e-procurement is not complete without our contractors. So we decided to specially set time aside to train the contractors.

“The training will enable them do their part and fulfill the obligation in the procurement system that we have now.

“The contractors are on the other end of the contracting process. It takes two parties to contract – government and contractors. So government is deploying this system to bring them up to date.

“They are very important; they are critical stakeholders in the procurement cycle. So what we are doing now is to train them so that when we start the e-procurement process; they know what to do,” he said.

Idogun assured that the agency would set up a help centre that any contractor with challenges could reach out to for help.
