Ologbese explained that projecting and redesigning the Ondo Deep Sea Port for the export business of the nation would not only balance up the forex market but also create job opportunities, especially in the south-west region.

The Ondo State Government said on Wednesday that the Ondo Deep Sea Port, when functional, would create massive job opportunities and boost the nation's economy.

Prince Boye Ologbese, Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora, Ondo State, said this at the 2022 Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) in Abuja.

Ologbese explained that projecting and redesigning the Ondo Deep Sea Port for the export business of the nation would not only balance up the forex market but also create job opportunities, especially in the south-west region.

He added that the theme of the summit, "Investment Opportunities in Ondo State," was deliberately coined in line with the vision and "redeemed agenda" of the present administration of Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

He noted that the theme was geared towards driving the key business potentials for socio-economic development, especially when technology was fast moving ahead of the county's crude oil.

According to him, as a means of revenue for the nation and our unstable forex market, projecting and designing our Ondo Deep Sea Port for the export business of the nation will not only balance up the forex market.

"It will strengthen our naira and also create a lot of employment opportunities for our young people in the entire South West region."

"The summit is, therefore, aimed at positioning Ondo State as an investment destination among the top three most competitive states in Nigeria in terms of accelerated growth, increased economic opportunities, and improved quality of life for the citizenry."

"It is also aimed at promoting investment opportunities and fostering synergy, as well as partnerships between government institutions and the private sector, which are critical players in the socio-economic development of the nation."

"It is for this reason that the Ondo State Ministry of Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations was created, with the objectives of providing strategic advice and support for the government in promoting economic development and attracting investors within and in the diaspora."

"It will interest you to know that proper engagement of our diasporas will drive the economic growth of this country."

He expressedconfidence that investors and businessmen would leave the summit with increased knowledge about the opportunities for investment in Ondo State and greater optimism for the future.

"As a government, we are looking forward to the resolution of this summit and its implementation."

The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN), reports that the NDIS has as it theme: "Optimising Investment Opportunities for National Development".

NAN also reports that the summit, which will end this Thursday, will focus on Ondo State investment opportunities.
