VISA FREE COUNTRIES FOR HOLDERS OF NIGERIAN PASSPORTS
Including almost all the West African countries, in Africa Nigerian passport holders can freely visit Benin, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Chad, Ghana, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Togo, Seychelles etc.
Visa-on-arrival: Some countries you can freely arrive in, to which you will then be issued with a visa once in the country (some charge fees) are Burundi, Kenya, Comoros, Djibouti, Madagascar, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Georgia, Macau (Macau is China’s Special Administrative Region – SAR), and Timor-Leste.
In Asian countries like Azerbaijan, Laos, Macau and Timor-Leste you are granted a 30 day visa and in Bangladesh you will be granted a 90 day visa.
However, no country outside Africa is entirely free for Nigerian passport holders as many are for US, UK, EU or even South African holders. For the ones that allow Nigerians visa-free entry, you will need a transit visa to get to such countries as direct flights from West Africa are unlikely from there to say Barbados, and getting a transit visa isn’t usually easy.
Nevertheless, let’s consider some of these countries which allow foreigners, including holders of Nigerian passport to visit during an estimated amount of time, after which visa will be demanded from you. Each of these countries have their own stipulated period of time a visitor is expected to spend before you would be mandated to obtain a visa.
In the Americas, you may have access to Barbados for 6 months
Dominicas for 21 days.
Grenada, Haiti, Saint Kitts and Nevis for 3 months
Turks and Caicos Island for 30 days
In Oceania you may access Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Vanuatu and Palau for 30days,
Cook Islands for 31 days, Tuvalu for 1 month, Samoa for 60 days and Fiji for 4 months.
Furthermore, even without an entry visa requirement you can be deported on arrival if they discover that you do not have enough funds for your trip and chances are as a Nigerian you will be severely scrutinized for this.
