Mr Alex Okoh, the Director-General, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) on Monday, promised to make the agency ranked among the best in the world in the next four years.

The DG stated this in a statement by Amina Othman, Head, Public Communications, BPE, and released to newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

According to the statement, the DG spoke while releasing the 6-point agenda for his administration for the next four years.

Okoh was reappointed by President Muhammadu Buhari for another 4-year term on Thursday.

Okoh said he would immediately put in place a template to further reinvigorate the Bureau’s activities.

He also said that efforts would be intensified to hasten reforms and privatisation for enterprises that were due.

“In all our transactions, transparency and accountability will continue to be our watchword.

“It is also an opportunity for the country to witness increased activities in our mandate which will lead to more job opportunities for our teeming youths and increased revenue for the Federal Government.”

He also said that the 6-point agenda for his administration in the next four years would include working towards encouraging more private sector operators to invest in critical sectors of the economy through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

He said that the Federal Government had simplified the PPP process which now allows private sector players to scout for projects to be financed through the PPP model.

According to the Director-General, other areas of interest by his new administration are completion of all ongoing reform and privatisation activities of the bureau.

He added that the BPE would carry out all other transactions that were scheduled for reforms and privatisation in the Privatisation and Commercialisation Act 1999 of the BPE.

“We will ensure passage of all reform bills pending before the National Assembly and ensure robust engagement with all relevant stakeholders.

“We will deepen the core values of the bureau by ensuring integrity and transparency, team-work, accountability and professionalism.”

Okoh thanked Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who is also the Chairman of the National Council on Privatisation (NCP) for his reappointment.

He added that the reappointment was an evidence of the confidence reposed in him to lead the privatisation agency. Okoh’s reappointment would take effect on April 10.
