The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), has described Dr Mike Okonkwo, the Bishop of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission as a detribalised Nigerian and a peace maker.

This is contained in a statement issued by the President of PFN, Bishop Wale Oke, which was made available to newsmen on Monday in Asaba.

Supreme reports that Oke spoke while extoling the virtues of Okonkwo, who recently turned 76.

Oke also described Okonkwo as a global icon and a true father with the heart of a good shepherd who had undiluted love for Nigeria, urging Nigerians to emulate his virtues.

“I salute him as a worthy example to Nigerians on multiple fronts, an exemplary patriot, peacemaker, and voice of grace and a man of impeccable integrity.

“I celebrate Okonkwo for his vision as one of the founding fathers of PFN, his strength of character and unceasing support for the Fellowship over the years, with an unblemished record of service,” he said.

The PFN president reiterated the need for people to imbibe the culture of celebrating icons and leaders while still alive rather than resorting to eulogies after their death.

He also prayed for long life and renewed strength for Okonkwo.
