Yobo, Falz, Adebayo unveiled as Trophy “Join the Field of Honour’’ ambassadors
Former Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Yobo, Ace entertainer, Folarin Falana (Falz) and popular actor, Femi Adebayo were on Tuesday unveiled as the brand ambassador of the inaugural “Join the Field of Honour” 5- A-Side Championships.
The unveiling was done at the media launch of the tournament at Fun Turf, Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The championships is sponsored by the International Breweries Plc, makers of Trophy Larger Beer.
The company’s Marketing Manager, Mr Tolulope Adedeji, said the competition was aimed at developing 5-A-Side football at the grass-roots.
“This is a tournament that is aimed at grassroots development of football because as a brand, we recognise our leadership role in being an honourable brewer.
“We also recognise football as a unifying factor of all races in the country. Football has broken down all barriers and uniting people of different races together.
“We also hope that the competition will help in discovering talents from all over the country because 5-A- Side is a game almost all notable footballers have played before.
“International players of repute such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have all played the game at one point of their life, so we are bringing same spirit to Nigeria,” she said.
Responding as a brand ambassador, thespian actor, Adebayo said he was excited to be part of the project.
“I am excited to be part of this project, it is a competition that will give the youth opportunity to have something doing,’’ he said.
Former Super Eagles Captain, Yobo, said he would like to see national champions discovered during the championships.
“I will like to see national champions discovered during the competition and I hope that the competition will be organised in other parts of the country,’’ Yobo said.
Similarly, ace musician and actor, Falz commended the organisers of the competition for the initiative of fusing entertainment into sports as a means of getting the attention of the youth.
“This is a good opportunity to have once again entertainment together with sports. This is a good initiative to be proud of and I am happy to be part of this,’’ he said.
The competition will be held in Lagos, Oyo, Ogun and Osun simultaneously.
