Vietnam imported over 5.4 million tons of plastic worth more than 6.7 billion U.S. dollars in the first 10 months of this year, according to its Ministry of Industry and Trade

The ministry on Thursday said this post a year-on-year rise of 3.2 per cent in volume and decrease of 10.7 per cent in value.

Between January and October, the country spent nearly 5.9 billion U.S. dollars importing plastic products, up 9.6 per cent from the same period last year, according to the ministry.

Its largest suppliers of plastic and plastic products included China, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and the United States, the General Department of Vietnam Customs said.

In 2019, Vietnam imported nearly 6.4 million tons of plastic totaling more than 9 billion U.S. dollars, up by 14 per cent and down 0.8 per cent respectively from the previous year.
