A 21- year-old unemployed man, Ismaila Akeem, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly robbing a man with a cutlass.

The defendant, who resides at Constain/Iganmu area of Lagos State, is facing charges of conspiracy and robbery.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Oke,  told the court that Akeem committed the alleged offences on June 20 at Iponri, Lagos.

Oke said that the defendant and his gang members, still at large, used a cutlass to rob one Mr Tijani Ibrahim of a Samsung phone worth  N50,000.

The prosecutor said that others escaped when a soldier arrived at the scene.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged offences contravene Sections 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Folasade Hughes, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Hughes adjourned the case until Sept. 13 for mention.
