A 27-year-old man, Suleman Ogundele, who allegedly hit a pedestrian with a motorcycle was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant, a motorcyclist, who resides at Aboru area of Ipaja, is being tried for reckless riding, having no rider’s card and hitting a pedestrian.
The prosecutor, Insp. Oluwasegun Oke, told the court that the offences were committed on Aug. 2 at Ayobo Ipaja Road, Lagos.
Oke alleged that the defendant rode his motorcycle recklessly without having regards for other road users.
He also alleged that the defendant hit a pedestrian, Mr Kingsley Ani, who sustained injuries on his head.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 12, 13 and 51 of the Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Folasade Hughes, granted the defendant bail of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Hughes adjourned the case until Aug. 30 for trial.
