Masturbation is a sexual behavior that involves using a means other than sexual intercourse to stimulate the genitals or other part of the body to produce sexual arousal/excitement.

In men, masturbation usually involves stimulating the penis and/or testicles (testes)

Although masturbation can be a healthy part of human sexuality, it may have a negative impact on relationships and psychological effects in certain circumstances, for example, masturbation that becomes compulsive, obsessive or uncontrollable or that takes the place of a healthy sexual relationship can have an unhealthy effect on one’s psychological well-being.

In the past masturbation was thought to be a sexual perversion and even today, certain cultures and religions oppose the practice and regard it as” sinful” behavior.

Frequent and/or vigorous masturbation can result in minor skin injuries example, abrasions and bruising in the genital area.

Pre-occupation with sexual fantasies can sometimes lead to damaging consequences, such as sexual addiction, sexual obsession and spending too much time and money on sexual materials such as sex toys, pornographic images and videos.

Masturbation can have several physiological benefits as it helps men to learn how to delay orgasm. It can also help to relieve pain and discomfort associated with non-bacterial prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate gland) in men .it helps to relieve stress and improve sleep.

Male infertility usually is diagnosed using a semen sample that is obtained through masturbation.

NEGATIVE EFFECT OF MASTURBATION

=Masturbation seems harmless enough but it can have bad effect on men’s health, too much of masturbation can be a sign of sexual addiction which is very bad for men’s mental fitness. Also, the lack of lubrication can cause injury to the head of shaft of the penis.

=Sexually transmitted disease are the most common sexual health risk for men as it is one of the most wide spread threats to men’s health in relation to sex.

=Masturbation lowers sperms count.

=Frequent masturbation will take long to satisfy you and for you to ejaculate, so space it out.

Also note that social stigma on masturbation can lower your morale.

It is important to be gentle on your genital to avoid sores and this can help you return back to normalcy.

Sex is important to men; it can be very healthy but can also be detrimental to their health as well. Living the best life style and making wise choices can prevent negative effects from a healthy sex life.

Masturbation does not result to short or long term physical effect; it does affect fertility or cause sexual dysfunction (impotence).

It is also good to know that masturbation does not cause:

=Blindness

=Mental illness

=Causes hair to grow in the palm

=Permanently reduces the quality and quantity of sperm.
