Mattel Launches Barbie Made From Recycled Ocean-Bound Plastic

Mattel Inc (MAT) has unveiled Barbie Loves the Ocean, its first fashion doll line made from recycled ocean-bound plastic.

This was in line with its goal to achieve 100-per-cent recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastic materials across all its products and packaging by 2030.

The collection included three dolls whose bodies were made from 90-per-cent recycled ocean-bound plastic parts and an accompanying Beach Shack playset and accessories, made from more than 90-per-cent recycled plastic.

Barbie aimed at achieving 95-per-cent recycled or FSC-certified paper and wood fibre materials used in packaging by the end of 2021.
