The defendants, who have no fixed address, are standing trial for conspiracy, stealing and receiving of stolen umbrellas.

The prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime in October 2021 at No. 55, Bode Thomas St., Surulere, Lagos.

Ekhueorohan alleged that the first, second and third defendants, who worked with Conflict Resolution Team, conspired to steal 213 pieces of Google Station-branded umbrellas worth N5.3 million.

He said that the offences violated Sections 287, 328 (1) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs Sadiq Bello, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties each in like sum.

She ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.

Bello adjourned the case until Feb. 10 for mention.
