Court arraign commercial driver for alleged reckless driving
The defendant drove a Volkswagen Vanagon Bus with registration number: AKD 747XA, in a dangerous manner.
A 24-year-old commercial bus driver, Taiwo Warris, who allegedly drove recklessly without a driver's licence, was on Friday docked in a Surulere Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos.
The police charged Warris with reckless driving and driving without a driver's licence.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendant, committed the offence on Jan. 3, on the Itire Road, by Ogunlana Drive Junction in the Lagos.
He said that the defendant drove a Volkswagen Vanagon Bus with registration number: AKD 747XA, in a dangerous manner.
The offence, Ekhueorohan said contravenes the provisions of sections 18 (1), 28 (1) and 111 of the Road Traffic Acts of Lagos State.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Sadiq Bello admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Bello adjourned the case until Jan. 27 for mention.
