The Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders has expressed joy over the appointment of Mr Ikechi Emenike as Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
This is contained in a statement issued on Friday by the group’s President-General, Goodluck Ibem, and Secretary-General, Kanice Igwe, in Owerri.

The group described Emenike as a man of many parts, stating that his appointment was well deserved and commendable.
It further described the appointment as a major win for the government and nation at large.
It commended the Ministry of Education for its “foresight in appointing Emenike, who is a man of integrity, dedication and loyalty”.

The group charged Emenike, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, to see his appointment as a call to service for the advancement of the university and Nigeria.
“This appointment comes with a huge responsibility that must be discharged with a high level of integrity and dedication and we are very confident that he will not be found wanting.

“Tertiary education is critical in nurturing components that help to ensure that individuals become innovators and wealth creators to accelerate economic growth.
“It is in the realisation of this that he was selected as a professional, academician and a technocrat with a high level of integrity and competence.

“Emenike has distinguished himself in various areas of calling. So, the government has chosen rightly,” the group added.
It urged other members of the council, Vice Chancellor, Senate, academic and non-academic staff members and students to support him to enable him to take the institution to greater height.
