Hajia Aisha Yusuf-lbrahim, the Special Assistant to Kwara Governor on Herdsmen and Community Outreach has urged the Federal Government to implement the National Livestock Transformation Plan to curb farmers and herders clashes. Yusuf-Ibrahim made the appeal in llorin on Monday.

She said that the proposed plan when implemented would create grazing routes for herdsmen, thereby putting an end to destruction of farmlands.

“The livestock transformation plan has brought peace in several countries of the world between herdsmen and farmers. I am optimistic it can work in Nigeria,’’ Yusuf-Ibrahim said.

The governor’s aide called on state governments and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector to join hands with the Federal Government in implementing the plan.

She noted that non-availability of potable water and legumes for cattle was responsible for open grazing, leading to destruction of farms.
