Kwara killings: Lai Mohammed postpones book donation

 Former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has postponed his planned donation of copies of his book to tertiary institutions in Kwara over recent killings of innocent residents in the state.

In a statement issued by his media office on Thursday in Abuja, Mohammed said the postponement of the event, originally scheduled for following week, was out of respect for the victims of the heinous killings.

He said a new date for the donation of the book, “Headlines & Soundbites: Media Moments That Defined an Administration”, would be communicated in due course.

Mohammed expressed profound condolences to the government and people of Kwara over the senseless killings.

It would be recalled that many innocent residents of Woro and Nuku communities, located in Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara were reportedly killed by rampaging terrorists.

The former minister particularly, extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear their immense losses and repose to the souls of the departed.

He, also commended the affected communities for their courage and steadfastness in the face of intimidation, highlighting their determination not to yield to the reign of terror imposed by the assailants.

Mohammed applauded President Bola Tinubu for his swift intervention in ordering the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area to neutralise the terrorists.

He described the action as a testament to the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to protecting innocent Nigerians, not only in Kwara State but across the nation.

The former minister called on the people of Kwara to continue cooperating with both state and federal authorities in efforts to halt the attacks and restore peace and normalcy to affected communities.
