He maintained that if elected, he would ensure that the state resources like cocoa and palm oil are harnessed and put into cooperatives for optimal production using the factories in the state.
An aspirant for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Cross River, under the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Arthur-Jarvis Archibong, has promised to put wealth into the hands of people if elected governor.
He made the promise while speaking to newsmen at the Margaret Ekpo International airport on Friday in Calabar, after picking his interest/nominations forms in Abuja.
He said if elected, his administration would put wealth into the hands of residents in the state through the creation of cooperatives and encouragement of private-sector growth.
"We want to put wealth into the hands of the people. We want to take our state from where we are right now and ensure that we encourage private sector growth.
"We are very particular about the fact that all the 39 or more factories that we have right now in the state will function and we will place them into the hands of people.
"There are lots of things that we will look forward to gain and to ensure that no new project will be in place unless when very necessary.
"Cross River is yearning for a lot of things in the area of human capital development, infrastructure and tourism; these are some the areas we want to enhance on and build our state.
"We have to ensure that Tinapa is back. We need to take it from where it is currently and ensure that it functions. Also, we must make sure that Obudu ranch works," he said.
He maintained that if elected, he would ensure that the state resources like cocoa and palm oil are harnessed and put into cooperatives for optimal production using the factories in the state.
"We are going to encourage our youth to get into import and export businesses so that the state will benefit from forex. All these are the things that we plan to do," he added.
On the issue of zoning, he expressed confidence that the leadership of the party would handle the matter accordingly.
