CG National Park urges retiring staff members to engage in post-service activities

Dr Ibrahim Goni, the Conservator-General (C-G) of the National Park Service (NPS) on Friday in Abuja urged retiring staff members to engage in meaningful post-service activities to ensure a sustainable livelihood.

Goni said the call the pull out ceremony in honour of the Conservator of Parks (CP) , Alhaji Abubakar Kaigama.

He said that proactive preparation was necessary to maintain a stable life post-retirement.

He further urged serving and officers to leave legacies and ensure that they have mentees to carry on with their duties.

Goni commended Kaigama for his outstanding services in the service emphasising that Kaigama is an intelligent, patient and proactive officer who has worked at several levels and in several places.

“I have worked with him when I was the editor-in-chief of the Nigerian Parks magazine. We have met at several forums. And I remember particularly one of our meetings in Gashaka Gumti National Park,” Goni said.

Responding, Kaigaima who is an immediate past CP of the Chad Basin National Park, thanked the service for the opportunity given to him to serve in various departments.

“Working in the National Park Service taught me patience, resilience, and the power of collective culture.

”The National Park Service has become an entity to the conduct of the staff of protected area management in Nigeria.

“I want to say that it has been a privilege for me to serve in various capacities of the National Park Service,” Kaigama said.
