Dr John Ayogu, a PDP aspirant to Nsukka/Igboeze-South House of Representatives ticket for the 2023 general election, has counselled party delegates to vote their conscience and shun inducement.

Ayogu made the appeal at the People Democratic Party (PDP) Nsukka Office on Wednesday while declaring his intention to contest the ticket for the seat in the forthcoming general election in the country.

He urged the party delegates to avoid allowing what he called `stomach infrastructure' to influence their decision in the nomination of a candidate.

He said if delegates voted according to their conscience, it would help to elect best candidates which would result in effective representation and moving the constituency to the next level.

"Delegates should bear in mind that the fate of the constituency lies in their hands, as the quality of person they elect will determine the level of development and empowerment they get in return.

"If any aspirant gives you money take, but go ahead and vote for the best aspirant in the interest of the constituency.

"You will be doing disservice and mortgaging the future of your children if your allow stomach infrastructure to make you vote the wrong aspirant to become flag-bearer in an election," he said.

The aspirant, an engineer and contractor to one of the mobile telecommunications network providers in the country, said he had used his profession to impact positively on the constituency in the past.

"I am the best among the aspirants because I have the capability, intelligence, connections and experience to change the narrative in Nsukka/Igboeze-South Federal constituency.

"If delegates continue to do the same thing the same way every time, we get the same result; it is only when we change from the old way of doing things that we get different result.

"If your vote me I will not disappoint you. Rather I will change the narrative through effective representation that will bring a new lease of life to the constituency," he said.

Ayogu, however, said as loyal party member, he would accept the result of the party primaries as well as support PDP candidate that wins provided the process was free and fair.

"I am not a desperate politician, I am against the politics of do or die because I believe that only God is the king maker," he said.

The aspirant expressed appreciation to crowd of supporters that accompanied him to party office and pledged that if elected he would carry everybody along in order to move the constituency forward.

Responding, Mr Fabian Onah, Chairman of PDP in Nsukka LG, said the party would continue to provide level play ground for all aspirants before and during party primaries.

"As LG party chairman, I am like a father to all aspirants and will ensure that the party gives equal opportunity to all aspirants before and during the primaries," he said.

Onah commended Ayogu for always using his profession to assist, as well as impact positively on people, urging him to keep on the good works.
