Ukraine not in NATO, Ankara's potential military support for Kiev illogical – lawmaker
In a televised speech, the Russian leader said that the self-proclaimed Luhansk and Donetsk republics requested help from Russia to counter Ukraine’s military aggression.
It would be illogical for Ankara to provide military support to Ukraine since Kiev is not a NATO member, a lawmaker from the ruling Justice and Development Party, Ibrahim Aydin, told Sputnik on Thursday.
"And how do you imagine it? What argument will be provided? Is Ukraine a NATO country? How can (Turkey) support it?" Aydin said.
On Thursday morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a military operation against Ukraine.

The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that the army did not target Ukrainian cities, so there was no threat to the civilians.
