Russia- Ukraine war: No evidence Russia sent troops to Donbas, says UK foreign secretary

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday signed federal laws on cooperation and friendship between Russia and two Donbas breakaway republics.

There was no clear evidence so far that Russia had sent its troops to the breakaway republics in Donbas after recognising their independence, UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said on Wednesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday signed federal laws on cooperation and friendship between Russia and two Donbas breakaway republics.

It now allowed Moscow to send troops to the region without asking for the consent of the Russian upper house.

Later in the day, Putin noted that he never mentioned that Russian troops were entering Donbas "right now.''

"We have heard from Putin himself that he is sending in troops, we do not yet have the full evidence … that is taking place,'' Truss told the Sky News broadcaster.
