The Kwara Government has identified with the Ekan Community in Oke-Ero Local Government Area, towards the final burial rites of the deceased Royal Father, the Elekan of Ekan Land, Oba Micheal Asaolu.

To this end, Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq sent a high powered delegation on Saturday to commiserate with the immediate family of the deceased and the entire Elekan-in-Council.

The governor’s delegation was led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Alabere.

Alabere disclosed that AbdulRazaq had given approval for financial assistance towards the final burial rites of the respected Royal Father.

Alabere, who was accompanied by some top government officials in the ministry, described the departure of the deceased as a great loss to Ekan Land, the local government and the state at large.

He implored the community’s kingmakers to allow the wishes of the majority prevail when choosing a successor and assured that this administration would continue to treat traditional rulers with respect and dignity.

It would be recalled that the state government had earlier sent a delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, to commiserate with the family and the community over the demise of the Royal Father.

Responding on behalf of the Elekan-in-Council, the Obajemu of Ekanland, Chief Michael Oyinloye, thanked the governor for the donation towards the burial of the late traditional ruler.

Oyinloye also appreciated AbdulRazaq for identifying with them through their son, the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr Adetiba Olarewaju.
