Prof. Oliver Uche, Head of Department of Religion at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has called for balance in political appointments for the stability of the country.

Uche, who made the call in an interview in Awka, on Tuesday, urged Nigerians to see our diversity as an advantage to attaining greater heights.

The don advised political leaders to avoid nepotism in their appointments, saying, “religion is never the issue separating us as Nigerians it is rather the commitment of our leaders past and present to the Nigeria project.

“We should all support the effort of President Muhammadu Buhari in building bridges of unity across the six geopolitical areas of Nigeria.

“This then calls for politics of inclusiveness in appointments across board for all to have a sense of belonging as it is done in civilised climes,’’ he said.

Uche said that there would be light at the end of the tunnel for the nation to grow as “all zones have unique gifts from God in terms of natural resources and human capital to offer to the progress of the nation, if carried along.

“There are numerous advantages to gain when we are together than when we choose to stand alone,’’ he added.
