The Kogi State Government has announced that a rescued kidnap victim has given birth to twin girls at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Lokoja.
According to Fanwo, the mother, whose identity is being withheld for security reasons, and her babies are in stable condition.
He said Gov. Ahmed Ododo had directed that the mother and her newborns be transferred to the State Specialist Hospital for comprehensive medical care and postnatal support.
Fanwo recalled that the IDP camp was established by the state government as a temporary rehabilitation centre for rescued kidnap victims, noting that the number of rescued victims had increased due to intensified security operations.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare and rehabilitation of all rescued victims in the state and commended security operatives for their sustained efforts in tackling criminality in Kogi and across the country.
