An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Thursday remanded a 28-year-old man, Ashiru Zayya, for allegedly killing one Hamza Bawa using a plank.
The Magistrate, Mrs F.F. George, remanded Zayya at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre and ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) office for advice.
George adjourned the case until July 17.
The police arrainged Zayya on a two-count charge of murder and conspiracy and his plea was not taken.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Osaghede Orobosa, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 19, at 6.30p.m., at Ojo, Alaba area of Lagos State.
Orobosa said that the defendant had used a plank to hit the deceased, Hamza Bawa, on his head which led to his death.
She said that the offences contravened Sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2021.
