“ I will use the visit to home to meet the state Commissioner for Diaspora, Culture and Tourism. There are so many Anambra indigenes in South Africa doing well in several disciplines that can benefit the state and improve its economy.
“The objective of this visit is to partner with the state government on how to actualise this and provide soft landing for members who want to think home,’’ he said.
The president said that the executive had encouraged members to invest at home, especially in areas like agriculture, health, Information Communication Technology, education and setting up of industries.
“The response from some of our members has been encouraging. We will ensure that government provides the enabling environment to achieve this objective,’’ he said.
According to Onwurolu, the association is assisting members, mostly youths on skills acquisition and employment to keep them off the streets in South Africa.
“Our mandate is to look after the welfare of our people and one way of doing this is to provide employment and assist them to acquire skills. Previous executives of our association had tried in this regard and we are consolidating on the gains,’’ he said.
