 The organisers of the Plateau Man of the Year Awards on Monday called for nominations and voting into the various categories for the 2020 edition of the award.

Amb.Cletus Akhimien, the Convener and Executive Director, COA Media, made the call in a statement made available to Newsmen in Jos.

Akhimien said that the 2020 edition, which was the 6th, would offer a lot as improvements had been made to make the event more colourful.

He said that plans had reached advanced stage to ensure a smooth and successful event, adding that “residents of Plateau and Nigerians are looking forward to seeing ONE ON ONE those to be nominated and who will emerge the 2020 Plateau Man of the Year.”

“Already, nominations had begun Monday, Nov. 2 as this year’s Award comprises 37 distinctive categories for nominations and voting.

“Winners of each award category, after the Judge’s review and recommendations, shall be formally presented with an Award Trophy Plaque and Certificate at the Award’s Gala Night, scheduled to hold on Feb. 21, 2021, at Crest Hotel & Gardens, Jos.

“The Plateau Man of the Year Award has remained a prestigious recognition award geared toward recognizsing and celebrating distinctive individuals and institutions who are contributing immensely to the advancement of Plateau, and making impact across the State and the Country .

“The Award has also served as a platform to recognise and celebrate talents, icons, captain of industries, technocrats and those making Plateau proud in various endeavours.

“This is to awaken patriotism and spur people to do more in terms of service to humanity and societal transformation,” he stated.

He said that some of the patriotic Nigerians who had been Recipients of the major award category included: Amb. Yahaya Kwande, Winner Plateau Man of the Year 1st Edition, Governor I I Bako Lalong, Winner Plateau Man of the Year 2nd Edition.

Others are Her Excellency Dame Pauline Tallen, winner 3rd Edition, Hon. Chris Kwaja, PhD, winner Plateau Man of the Year 4th Edition and Rep Beni Lar (PDP), winner Plateau Man of the Year 5th Edition.

According to him, the call for nominations is the first stage in a 3-step points-based selection process that includes: a call for nomination, a call to vote for the shortlisted nominees and the Judge’s final review of the nominations and voting submissions – using supporting evidence and voting considerations in their final decisions.

He said that Nov. 23 has been slated as the deadline for submission of nominations, while on Dec. 2, voting of shortlisted nominees would commence.
