The Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS) has cleared the two Russian swimmers; Alexandr Kudashev and Veronika Andrusenko to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.

Their clearance is coming after a provisional anti-doping violation suspension, swimming body FINA said.

The swimming body, on Wednesday, provisionally suspended the athletes based on evidence supplied by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) from its examination of materials recovered from the former Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory.

“FINA fully recognised CAS as the independent adjudicatory body in cases such as these.

“We’re grateful for their quick consideration of this matter, and we will both respect and implement CAS’s decision.

“As a proud signatory of the WADA Code, we are duty-bound to follow up quickly and carefully on the material provided.

“FINA remains fully committed to protecting clean athletes and promoting clean competition at Tokyo 2020, just as we do for all the events on our calendar,’’ FINA President Husain Al-Musallam said in a statement.

Kudashev has qualified for the 200m butterfly event at the Tokyo Games, while Andrusenko had qualified for the 200m freestyle race at the July 23-Aug. 8, Tokyo Olympics.

Swimming events were set to kick off on July 24.
